Diane S. Gold, JD President and Founder
Diane Gold is an attorney who prevents lawsuits. Before turning her attention to the prevention of lawsuits, Ms. Gold spent several years litigating private and federal sector EEO cases with the
employment law firm of Kalijarvi, Chuzi and Newman, located in Washington D.C. Her experience encompasses every protected class and every aspect of EEO law including sexual harassment and retaliation.
Since founding EMS in 1996, Ms. Gold has served a variety of clientele including private corporations, non-profits and the federal government. She has designed
and conducted training programs covering all areas of EEO, employment law, and harassment. Her training sessions have been attended by all levels of employees,
from Presidents to HR managers, to line managers and staff. In a series of workshops, she had the opportunity to train hundreds of managers at the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) in employment law.
Ms. Gold is also one of the first employment lawyers to develop training on a new and growing area of employment law called family responsibilities discrimination.
This area has taken on increasing significance due to recent media attention pertaining to work-life balance, the current necessity to retain valuable
employees, and employees’ growing awareness of their legal rights.
As an investigator, Ms. Gold has taken on a wide variety of issues including those involving high level employees, dozens of witnesses and highly complex legal
matters. Her investigative experience includes working extensively with Verizon to investigate and resolve EEO claims as well as management/employee issues. She
has also conducted discrimination and sexual harassment investigations for the Department of Justice and the National Science Foundation, among others.
Ms. Gold authored the chapter "Keep It Legal," in the book Stress-free Performance Appraisals, written by Sharon Armstrong and Madeline Appelbaum and published by Career Press in 2003. Additionally, she has been quoted in Association Management, Executive Update and Working Woman magazines on sex
discrimination, sexual harassment and work/life balance issues.
Ms. Gold obtained her JD from American University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University. She also received mediation training from the Northern
Virginia Mediation Service. Ms. Gold is a member of: the Virginia State Bar, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Northern Virginia chapter of SHRM, and the DC chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution. She also has served as a Mediator with the Equal Employment
